Not exactly the self help book I was looking for

Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024

"I was given an e-copy of this book an am Choosing to review it. As a chronic "overthinker" I was hopeful this book would give me tips and insight. It was just the same old, tired advice. THINK POSITIVE!  EAT BETTER!  MEDITATE!  My personal favorite advice was to change the makeup you wear! Bleh. At some point, the author started talking about God and quoting Scripture. That's when he lost me altogether. This book is such a NO for me."

The key to understanding your overthinking isn't in a magic pill. Nor is it a complex secret.  The key to understanding your overthinking is in mastering the fundamentals.

What other tips and insights was this reviewer looking for?

“THINK POSITIVE” is the number one most important mantra needed to, “think positive.”  Positive thinking will eliminate negative thoughts thereby reducing overthinking.

“EAT BETTER” is part of a personal initiative for physical improvement.  A poor diet is noticeably detrimental to mental acuity.  If you are in poor health your thinking is relatively negative causing more negative overthinking.

“MEDITATE’ is a normal part of developing new mental pathways of instruction for positive change, reducing overthinking.

Changing makeup is a suggestion with the intent for you to actually see yourself in a new light, a different glow and appearance to cause you to think more positively of yourself.  And the mention of God, our creator, is a necessary part of life itself.  To deny God can be self deprecating bringing on useless overthinking.

It seems this reviewer has expectations of finding the formula to a complex secret to stop overthinking.  Or they are on the hunt for the magic pill that erases away their overthinking.

There is no magic pill.  There is no secret formula.  The cat has been out of the bag for years before I came along.  The tips and insights this reviewer railed against are the tips and insights that describe the processes to understanding and controlling overthinking.  Using the reviewers words, “It was the same old tired advice.”  Yes.  Sometimes the advice can sound old and tired.  But that’s only because you don’t accept and use the advice given.  This specific advice is the problem solver.  Think Positive!  Eat healthy foods!  Add prayer/meditation.  Change your makeup.  Do a physical makeover of yourself!  Help yourself!

There is no magic bullet.  Anything worth having requires effort and work.  Understanding your overthinking is not a complex secret.  You don’t need a college degree or a special code.

THINK POSITIVE!  EAT HEALTHY!  PRAY/MEDITATE!

Remember, it’s all in the thoughts we think.  So let’s think first…before we overthink!
